We go to menti.com and brainstorm 3 ways of greeting someone.

When we finish the word cloud we take a photo and upload it to your portfolio.

Do you use the same ones for everybody? And what about the gestural greetings?

Rose: Hi, Carmen.

Carmen: Hello, Rose. How are you?

Rose: Great! Look! I am reading my favourite book.

Carmen: Do you like Shakesperare?

Rose: Wow! William is the best and Hamlet is my favourite play.

Carmen: Well, Carmen, I have to leave. See you later.

Rose: See you!

Imagine you are meeting some friends this afternoon. Get ready for it and role-play a conversation with your classmates. Look at the example and write your own conversation in your notebook:

Be ready to

Task 4

speech-balloon-green-w256_icon-icons.com

When somebody asks: "HOW are you?", there are different ways you can respond. The most common response is to say: "I am fine thank you".

However, you may tell somebody a bit more about how you feel, mainly if the person asking is close to you or knows you.

Look at the different responses and practice with your partner:

- How are you?

- I am feeling sick./ I am a little worried today./ I am upset./ I have a slight headache.

Look at the following pictures and choose the best response when asked, "How are you?"

  1. I am angry.

  2. I am scared.

  3. I am not well.

  4. I am not good. I've received bad news.

  5. I am excited.

  6. I am blessed.

  7. I am too hot.

  8. I am tired.

  9. I am happy.

But when somebody asks:

"WHO are you?", that's a different question:

- complete the following file to know yourself better.

- Stick in your notebook,

- take a photo, and

- upload it to your portfolio.
